The Blackford outing to Royal Burgess Golfing Society took place on Tuesday 12th July 2022 in gloriously sunny but windy conditions. It was Blackford’s first outing there since 2013. The course was in great condition if a little brown due to the weeks of windy dry weather which preceded the event. The fairways were very firm and the greens were devilishly fast and this was reflected in the scoring.

28 members took part but nobody managed to meet the standard 36 stableford points. The winner was Derek Macgilivray with 33 points just pipping John Stevenson by virtue of a better back nine. Third place was claimed by club secretary, John Williams on 31 points.

Derek used his local knowledge as a member of RBGS to also win nearest the pin in two at the 12th hole. The prize for nearest the pin in one at the par-3 5th hole, was won by Bobby Scott.

There was an interesting situation at the par-three 13th where both Allan Weir and John Stevenson came close to holing in one. John later commented that if both had gone in, it would have been cost effective, one bottle of whisky between two.
