Blackford Golf Club became 100 years old, in 1989, when the Secretary was G.B. Ross, under the Captaincy of W.D. Henderson.
Past captain Dr James Ross (1976) decided to mark the occasion by presenting to the club. the Centenary Trophy. It consists of a bladed, hickory shafted, Nicol putter. It has been described as ‘striking’ rather than beautiful’. Nevertheless, the winners are always pleased to be honoured by having their names engraved on it.
There have been several different criteria for winning the Centenary Trophy but since 2011, it has been awarded to the member who has the highest number of stableford points over any two outings during the season and has not won the Majority Cup.
