ANNUAL DINNER

The last event of our season on Friday November 24th, was our Annual Dinner, where we were looked after extremely well at our new venue of Murrayfield Golf Club. In total we had 46 sit down to dinner, which included seven guests on the top table from kindred clubs, our superb speaker Alastair Forsyth, and a further seven guests of various members.

Alastair was fifteen years on the tour, his early years overlapping with the later years of Seve, Monty, Faldo etc, so the wealth of stories he regaled us with were truly unique; and with his wry humour, we were extremely well entertained.

Captain Chris took the opportunity in his address to members to praise Martin Bryden who was there at the dinner, for his diligent efforts in writing the histories of both Murrayfield Golf Club and Blackford Golf Club, for which recognition the members of both clubs and guests present at the dinner gave Martin a spontaneous round of applause

TROPHIES

In addition to the awards made to the winners at each of our Outings, Blackford Golf Club has a great history of awarding classic trophies for aggregate achievement over the season. The awards made at the dinner were:

MATCHPLAY TROPHY (2002)

The two finalists had also won an Outing in the season, so a keenly fought final went to the last green when Michael Clarke lost to ROGER MEW.

CONSOLATION CUP (1951)

For Recognising they are having a bad day, but determined to see it through  MALCOLM DAVIDSON

CENTENARY TROPHY (1989)

Best aggregate NETT score over the season .JEFF PRESTON

MAJORITY CUP (1910)                   Best aggregate STABLEFORD score TOM MACLACHLAN

CALDER CUP (1932 trophy descended from the Calder Charm initially awarded at individual Outings since our1889 formation)

Best aggregate SCRATCH score DAVID MACAULAY

Our season is now completed, without interruption, for another year. Your Committee will now rest awhile, before beginning preparations for next year, which will commence with the AGM, which is traditionally a Tuesday in mid-February.
