On a very windy day, the final Outing of the year took place on the picturesque Aberdour Golf Course on the banks of the Forth. The 27 members who took part were well looked after by Vice Captain John Matheson and past secretary Frank Robson in the absence of both Captain and Secretary who were away sailing off Sardinia . Whilst the wind filled the sails in the Med, it proved to be too much of a hazard for all players in the Outing none of whom managed to drive onto the green of the par 3 second hole meaning that the Nearest the Hole prize was unclaimed.
Walker Forsyth was the winner of the Longest Drive prize on the 11th having taken advantage of a gust of wind from behind just as he struck his drive. Despite the windy conditions, a very creditable 37 Stableford points was scored by the winner, Tom Maclachlan, narrowly ahead of Allan Weir and Gus Hannay who were joint second.
Despite good fortune with a wind assisted drive Walker Forsyth was less fortunate on his return to the Clubhouse when he found that his car keys were locked inside the car! With his jacket and club tie laid on the back seat until the AA arrived to unlock his car he had to dine without wearing his club tie and succumbed in good humour to payment of the £1 fine as a result!
A good day and much fun was had by all . Grateful thanks to Frank who admirably undertook the Secretarial duties throughout the whole day and the dinner afterwards despite not being able to play due to a bad back – very many thanks indeed
