Blackford began using Kilspindie for outings back in the first decade of the 20th century and have been back regularly ever since. Kilspindie has hosted more Blackford outings than any other club.
In the days before this outing, our concern was the weather. Forecasts all week had been for thunderstorms during our matches and the rain was heavy as we drove down the coast. Miraculously, the rain stopped within a few minutes of our first tee time and the sun came out. By the end, complaints were about it being too hot and sunny for golf.

Captain Matheson was unavailable for this event and so Vice-Captain Stevenson was in charge, more than ably assisted by Secretary Hardie. The planning process must have been good for their golf because Chris won the “Nearest the Pin” prize and John took overall victory with a surprising 47 Stableford points (yes, the word bandit was used by several members). Colin Clarke took second place with 39 points and Hugh Lees was third with 38.
The other prize was for a new Blackford contest. “Nearest the Pin in Two” replaced “The Longest Drive” and the inaugural winner was Allan Weir.

Our next event is the Bruntsfield outing on Wednesday 14th August followed by the final outing of the year, to Aberdour on Tuesday 10th September. It’s not too late to enter these outings if you haven’t already done so.

A reminder also, that our annual dinner will be held a little earlier this year, at Bruntsfield on Friday 18th October. Please put that date in your diary.
