2020, I’m sure you will agree, has been a memorable year although not for reasons which benefit our golf club.

Finally, on August 13 we managed our first outing of the year. Our Captain, John Matheson had been keen to take an outing to his home club, Murrayfield, which proved to be a good decision for two reasons – firstly because they were able to accommodate us whereas other outings have had to be postponed – and secondly because local knowledge enabled the Captain to score an exceptional 42 Stableford points and win the event.

Second place with 38 points was Harley Weston and Tony Kelly was third with 35. Have you spotted the trend yet? All are Murrayfield members.

The weather was kind and we were made very welcome by the Murrayfield staff who provided a lovely two course meal after the golf. As ever, the most important part of any Blackford Golf Club outing is the fellowship and all present agreed that it had been a delight to get together again.
