Sadly, no written evidence survives which records the initial meeting and motivation of the group of young men who met in 1889 and decided to form a new club called Blackford.

The first record of a Captain being elected was Mr A. Robertson in 1890. No more Robertsons have become Captain but the name Tullo appears in the list five times, starting with G.Tullo in 1910 and ending with K.W.K Tullo in 1958.

Three Cruickshanks have captained the club from J. Cruickshank in 1893 to J.A. Cruickshank in 1948.

The name Morrison appears twice, first Mr A. Morrison, our longest serving Captain who held office during the war years from 1939-1948 and then I. Morrison in 1986-1987.

In the earlier war, A.D.F Torrance held the post from 1914-1921. During that war, our 1909 Captain, Frederick Kinloch Anderson was killed in action on 25 September 1915 and his brother Walter (also a Blackford member) sadly died in action on 27 July 1918, just a few weeks before the war ended.
