Michael Clarke CBE was the winner of Blackford Golf Club's outing at Gullane 11/05/22

Michael Clarke CBE

On 11th May, 25 Blackford members participated over Gullane No3 in windy conditions. Despite the threat of very heavy showers which were evident on the horizon we all managed to complete our rounds without getting wet. Clearly East Lothian has a different climate!
Captain Chris played in the first group and had and very enjoyable round with two new members on their first Blackford Outing – Ranald Naismith and Mike Harvey. Ranald had a great start with a net Eagle on the first and net Birdies on the second and third holes so his Stableford Score was into double figures before crossing the road to the fourth tee!
Despite the wind there were some very creditable scores from the high twenties upwards. In third place, John Matheson scored 40 Stableford points, in second place Pat Lawrence scored 41 points and the winner, Michael Clarke, after a brilliant round, won with 50 points.
The prize for Nearest the Pin in two was won by David Thomson and the Nearest the Pin in one by Iain Maclaren.
Gullane Golf Club looked after us all very well indeed in their much improved Visitor Centre and the Outing was enjoyed by all.
